Venice CARNIVALE!!
Wow carnivale, best day ever. We woke up and left our apartment by 8:40 am to get the bus at 9 to head to Venice. We finally got there around 12:30 or so and decided to just walk around and shop a little. After a little shopping we found ourselves at the Jewish quarter. Didn’t spend that much time there but I did make Jenna take pictures of all the Hebrew for me and I’m sure I’ll be back there with my mom in 2 weeks. After, we ate at a random restaurant we found and just shopped until like 4:30. Then everyone wanted to do a Gondola ride but me and Victoria so we decided to walk around and just keep shopping and try to find San Marco square. We finally got there and tried to find the Hard Rock CafĂ© because there was supposed to be a big party going on there at some point. We went and decided to make a reservation for later so we had a 2 hour and 40 minute wait so that was fine. We then went to meet up with everyone from the gondola and on the way I happened to run into Sarah who told us about this great wine deal and so we decided that’s where we were going to go. We met up with the group and made our way to experiment on how to get to the wine shop. After about 15 minutes we found the square we thought it was in. Turns out it was on a side alley that took us another 15 minutes to find but eventually made it. On the way there was a huge candy cart and of course Kara got overly excited and bought a monster cotton candy. The wine shop filled a 1.5 liter water bottle with the wine of your choice all for about 3 euro. Best purchase ever. By the time we made it back to San Marco it was time for our reservation at dinner. For the first time all of abroad I was able to find some ranch and barbeque sauce to make an amazing barbeque ranch chicken salad. One of my happiest moments. We stayed at dinner for a while and when we were finally done we headed back to San Marco square where we spent the rest of the night drinking our water bottles of wine. We were dancing and playing around with all of the people in costumes and just making complete fools of ourselves. Our bus didn’t leave until 1 am so we didn’t leave the square until about 12:30 and then took a water ferry back to the bus. Quite a successful night and we all managed to make it back to Florence alive (miraculously) at around 4 am. It was truly one of the best nights and we all had so much fun.
Here are some pictures and the rest are on facebook and eventually I will put up some myself:
